What Does Quick Service Mean at Disney World?

Think of Quick Service (also known as Counter Service) dining like fast food. You order either at the counter or on the mobile My Disney Experience app. Then you pick up food at the window.

Keep in mind that not all Quick Service dining is the same though.

Quick Service restaurants offer full meals. Snack locations though, confusingly, are sometimes classified as “Quick Service” on Disney maps and in the Disney app. But these are technically snack location and take snack credits if you are on a dining plan. Sometimes these snack locations do have foods you can make a meal out of though (like hot dogs or turkey legs). We cover all of them below!

Best Quick Service Animal Kingdom Restaurants

Before we get into ALL the Quick Service Restaurants at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, let’s hit the highlights! Here are the best Quick Service dining options at Animal Kingdom so you can plan your perfect dining day!

Animal Kingdom has some of the best Quick Service in the parks, and honestly I like some of the food better than the Table Service restaurants. Plus, they are more budget-friendly!

Best Quick Service Breakfast at Animal Kingdom

Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Africa is my pick for the best breakfast Quick Service at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Here, you can get coffee and pastries. (I love the Chocolate Twist, which is just like the Cheshire Cat Tail in Magic Kingdom!) This is also where you can get the GIANT Mickey shaped cinnamon roll!

Other great Quick Service breakfast options in Animal Kingdom:

  • Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery in Africa (coffee & pastries)
  • Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes in Asia (breakfast bowls and egg muffins)

Best Quick Service Lunch at Animal Kingdom

Satu’li Canteen in Pandora is my pick for the best Quick Service lunch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Honestly, this is one of my favorite restaurants on Disney property! They have healthy, build-your-own bowls that are perfect in the middle of a long day. And they are SO good!

Other great Quick Service lunch options in Animal Kingdom:

  • Flame Tree Barbecue on Discovery Island (BBQ chicken, pork, and ribs)
  • Harambe Market in Africa (rice bowls and salads)
  • Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes in Asia (Asian dishes)

Best Quick Service Dinner at Animal Kingdom

Flame Tree Barbecue is the best place to grab a Quick Service dinner at Animal Kingdom! While you can totally go here for lunch, I think it’s a great dinner place because it has such a fantastic seating area. There is a huge area of tables behind the restaurant overlooking Discovery River that is SO relaxing and a great place to relax in the evening.

Other great Quick Service dinner options in Animal Kingdom:

  • Satu’li Canteen in Pandora (create-your-own bowls + cheeseburger pods)
  • Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes in Asia (Asian dishes)

Gluten-Free & Allergy-Friendly Quick Service Dining at Animal Kingdom

If you’re coming to Animal Kingdom with a food allergy or gluten sensitivity, you’ll be happy to know you’ll have lots of options!

While eating at a Table Service restaurant is the best way to guarantee you won’t have any allergens in your food (you can talk to the chef to understand how everything is prepared), there are still lots of options at Quick Service restaurants!

Several Animal Kingdom Quick Service restaurants have dedicated allergy menus:

  • Flame Tree Barbecue on Discovery Island
  • Harambe Market in Africa
  • Pizzafari on Discovery Island
  • Restaurantosaurus in DinoLand U.S.A.
  • Satu’li Canteen in Pandora

Alcohol and Bars at Animal Kingdom

Aside from maybe Epcot (because of the variety in World Showcase) Animal Kingdom is probably the best park in Animal Kingdom for alcoholic drinks. Almost every Quick Service restaurant or stand serves some kind of alcohol.

Many of them also have fun specialty drinks (that are of course very Instagramable).

Here are some of the best Quick Service spots to get alcoholic beverages in Animal Kingdom:

  • Pongu Pongu in Pandora (get the Rum Blossom)
  • Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Africa (get the Dole Whip with Rum)
  • Dawa Bar in Africa (get the African Margarita)
  • Thirsty River Bar in Asia (get the Himalayan Ghost or Yeti Sunset)
  • Yak & Yeti Quality Beverages in Asia (get the Yak Attack)

Animal Kingdom Quick Service Restaurants

Now that we’ve gone through the highlights for the best Animal Kingdom Quick Service restaurants, let’s break down ALL the dining options ! This first set of Quick Service restaurants offer full lunch and dinner menus.

Let’s start on Discovery Island and then work our way clockwise around the park.

Flame Tree Barbecue (Discovery Island)

Flame Tree Barbecue is located on Discovery Island just across the bridge from DinoLand U.S.A. It’s open for lunch and dinner, and it’s a popular Animal Kingdom Quick Service spot because it’s known for consistently good food.

Plus Flame Tree Barbecue has one of my favorite seating areas in all of Disney: a large outdoor section of tables under a variety of pavilions and looking across the river out to Expedition Everest. It is supremely relaxing.

Menu options at Flame Tree Barbecue include ribs, chicken, and pulled pork. Plus they have a plant based sandwich option and allergy-friendly options. The full menu can be found here.

Pizzafari (Discovery Island)

Pizzafari is located on Discovery Island across the bridge from Pandora. They serve what it sounds like — pizza. Seating is inside throughout a series of colorfully decorated rooms. Pizzafari is open for lunch and dinner.

This isn’t known to be the best option quality-wise in Animal Kingdom, but it’s a popular family pick since pizza is sure to please just about anyone. Find the full menu here.

Satu’li Canteen (Pandora – The World of Avatar)

Satu’li Canteen is my favorite Animal Kingdom Quick Service restaurant, and maybe even my favorite Quick Service location in all of Disney World. It even beats out a lot of Table Service meals I’ve had at Disney.

Satu’li Canteen is located in Pandora – The World of Avatar near the exit to Flight of Passage. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and they are open for lunch and dinner.

The food at Satu’li Canteen is a build-you-own-bowl menu. Choose a protein (beef, chicken, shrimp, tofu), a base (beans, potatoes, noodles, salad), and a sauce (green, black bean, creamy herb).

Plus Satu’li Canteen is where you can find the popular Cheeseburger Pods.

After days of too-rich theme park food, Satu’li Canteen is such a solace. And it’s absolutely delicious.

Harambe Market (Africa)

Harambe Market is located in Africa on the side closest to Asia. The seating is outdoors in what is supposed to be an old train depot, and they are open for lunch and dinner.

Lunch and dinner options include honey chicken, vegetable tikka masala, and tempura shrimp. There is also a burger on the menu.

Restaurantosaurus (DinoLand U.S.A.)

Restaurantosaurus is located in DinoLand U.S.A. near the path that leads to DINOSAUR. Food is known to be hit or miss, but the theming is beloved. The whole restaurant tells a complicated story of college kids that were in DinoLand U.S.A. for a dig.

Seating for Restaurantosaurus is largely inside, and you’ll want to take in all the carefully thought-out details in the decorations.

Restaurantosaurus is open for lunch and dinner. Entrees are focused on more standard theme park foods: burgers and hot dogs, plus some salad options. There’s also an Impossible burger on the menu. The full menu can be found here.
