Downtown Franklin Shops: Your Guide to Shopping in Franklin, TN

There are so many things to do in Franklin, TN, and one of the most popular is to explore all the downtown Franklin shops!

Downtown Franklin is absolutely adorable, and it’s full of boutique clothing stores, home and gift stores with unique items, and specialty shops for things like books, kitchen items, art, and more.

So if you’re planning to go shopping in downtown Franklin, here’s what you can expect to find!

Home and Gift Shops

Avec Moi

Avec Moi features gifts, accessories, and vintage items. You can find everything from place settings to candles to specialty gift items to seasonal dรฉcor. They also carry a few select clothing items.

Location: 418 Main Street, Franklin, TN

Franklin Antique Mall

Located just a few blocks from Main Street, the Franklin Antique Mall offers a variety of unique and antique finds. They have over 12,000 square feet of space, so there’s lots to explore here!

Heart and Hands

Heart and Hands is all about handmade goods, many of them from Tennessee makers. Their selection includes things like candles, pottery, jewelry, soaps, and more. This is definitely a great place for a unique, handmade gift!

Hester & Cook

Hester & Cook especially focuses on tableware, with dinnerware, glassware, accessories, and luxury paper items for your table. I visited in the Fall, and they had some of the most beautiful Fall decor out that made me want to immediately plan Thanksgiving dinner despite it being August when I visited! They also sell other gift items, home decor, and stationery items.

Native Matter

Native Matter is a downtown Franklin shop that focuses on natural products and wellness. They sell home goods, clothing, wellness items, baby items, jewelry, and more. It’s all about living a life full of things that matter. On their “Our Story” section on their site, one of their principles is that “hugs matter” and the “love and support we give our souls matters,” which definitely give you an idea of this store’s guiding philosophy.

Onyx + Alabaster

This home decor and interior design store also boasts a coffee shop with tables outside on the square. Onyx + Alabaster offers interior design services that are booked by appointment, but they also stock upscale home decor items and they have an online shop you can peruse as well.

Rock Paper Scissors

So I definitely have a few favorite downtown Franklin shops, and this is one of them! Rock Paper Scissors is a store that focuses on party supplies, paper goods, and some home items. And while these are items I love to browse, my favorite thing about this store is how much JOY it contains! It’s so colorful and cute, and you can’t help but automatically feel happier when you walk through the doors.

They sell everything from adorable mugs to colorful notepads to scented erasers. Plus, they have an entire collection devoted to Dolly Parton. What more do you need?

The Green Room

The Green Room is dedicated to sustainable gifts and home goods, so you can shop earth-friendly products. It’s a fun shop with a bohemian vibe and they carry fair-trade and plant-based products including things like home decor items, baby clothes that are plant-dyed, and dog products.

They also make their own candles in-house! And they make an effort to stock local goods from other Franklin makers.

The Heirloom Shop

The Heirloom Shop is a gift shop in downtown Franklin that sells the cutest stuff! This is a great place to go for a souvenir or specialty gift item. They have items like decorative pillows, candles, Christmas ornaments, puzzles, and more.

Plus they carry collegiate items like t-shirts, pillows, and college town candles (I love a good themed candle!).

The Registry

The Registry is all about table decor and beautiful home goods. And it’s called The Registry because that’s just what it is, a place you can register for and shop for gifts. It’s the epitome of upscale Southern shopping.

I remember going to a local gift shop in my hometown when I was growing up, and how my mom loved to look at the place settings all the brides had registered for laid out with their names. This store reminded me so much of that! And it’s just so beautiful in every corner.

Tin Cottage

Tin Cottage was one of my favorite stores for unique, Tennessee finds. They have Tennessee (the state, not the school) mugs and platters, and I even found a Tennessee shaped stuffed animal that had me laughing out loud amidst the other shoppers.

Besides gifts and home goods and humor items (you know, like those snarky mugs), they also sell some select clothing items.

White’s Mercantile

White’s Mercantile calls themselves “a general store for the modern-day” and this is definitely a shop you don’t want to miss. Their selection of items is so unique and wide-ranging from stationery to kitchen items to baby items and more. Plus, they had an entire corner in the front of the store with local food items!

And fun fact: White’s Mercantile is owned by Hank Williams Jr.’s daughter, Holly Williams.

Specialty Shops

There are also lots of downtown Franklin shops that sell more specialty goods, from food products to books and more.

Bink’s Outfitters

Bink’s Outfitters is an outdoor store that sells outdoors gear and apparel. They sell popular brands like Patagonia, Chaco, Yeti, and more.

Landmark Booksellers

I love this independent bookstore in downtown Franklin! The owners live above it, and the store itself has a great community feel. There’s a couch in the center, and while I was browsing books several people came it to sit down for a chat with each other and the owners of the store.

Landmark Booksellers is a maze of books (in the best way possible!). They sell both new and used books here, so you’re sure to find something to take home.

Olivia Olive Oil

Olivia Olive Oil is all about specialty olive oils and vinegars. They sell flavored olive oils, aged balsamic vinegars, and fruit vinegars. They also have specialty kitchen items and other food items you might use with your oils and vinegars, like pastas and dipping blends.

Rooted from Yarrow Acres

Here’s Franklins downtown plant store! Rooted from Yarrow Acres calls themselves “Franklin’s Little Plant Shop” and they are full of houseplants and houseplant accessories. They also offer occasional classes. And even though I’m not known for my keeping-plants-alive skills, browsing their store inspires me to give my houseplants another go.

Saint Goose

Saint Goose is a neighborhood wine and spirits shop in downtown Franklin. They focus on building community around wine and wine education and say they’re all about “wine, whiskey, and wisdom.” They also deliver locally!

Savory Spice Shop

The Savory Spice Shop is the perfect place for cooks and bakers! They are all about unique spice and herb blends, and their walls are full of jars of spices you probably won’t find anywhere else. You can measure your own to take home, so you have the exact amount you need.

We’re going to be a little more brief with our clothing store descriptions here, because many of them are going to be pretty similar in that you’ll mostly find women’s clothing boutiques. We’ll note some differences below though.

  • Cellar on Main โ€” Women’s clothing boutique. Location: 344 Main Street
  • Citizen โ€” Focuses on shoes and more casual clothes for men and women. Location: 430 Main Street
  • Emmaline โ€” Women’s clothing boutique. Location: 400 Main Street
  • Finnleys โ€” Women’s clothing boutique. Location: 435 Main Street
  • Franklin Road Apparel Company โ€” This store sells stylish clothes for both men and women. Location: 208 W Main Street
  • heylee b. โ€” Women’s clothing boutique that especially helps you shop by different body shape. Location: 502 Main Street
  • Imago Dei โ€” Women’s clothing boutique. Location: 326 Main Street
  • Jondie โ€” Women’s clothing boutique (owned by the same owner as Mimi & Dottie). Location: 412 Main Street
  • Mimi & Dottie โ€” This store began as a jewelry line and now carries handmade jewelry and women’s fashions. Owned by the same owner as Jondie. Location: 98 4th Avenue N.
  • Philanthropy โ€” This boutique clothing stores also runs a non profit charity called Philanthropy Ministries, and a portion of their store sales go to fund it. Location: 413 Main Street
  • Posh Franklin โ€” Women’s clothing boutique. Location: 231 Public Square
  • Twine Graphics โ€” Twine is a screenprinting business, and their store features their designs (many of them Franklin or Tennessee related!) on t-shirts and other merchandise. Location: 304 Public Square
  • Vinnie Louise โ€” Women’s clothing boutique. Location: 400 Main Street
  • WILDER โ€” Women’s clothing boutique that also sells clothes for younger girls. Address: 118 4th Avenue S

Art Galleries

There are some art galleries in downtown Franklin as well!

  • Deann Gallery โ€” The art gallery of artist Deann Herbert, who paints light-filled pieces. It’s definitely worth stopping by to see! Location: 343 Main Street
  • Gallery 202 โ€” This Gallery is just a couple of blocks from Main Street and features a variety of local artists in a house that has been converted into an art gallery. Location: 202 2nd Ave. S
  • Rare Prints Gallery โ€” This gallery specializes in maps, architecture, and other similar themes. And the have a collection of rare vintage prints. Location: 420 Main Street

Where to Eat in Downtown Franklin, TN

With all that shopping, you know you’ll get hungry. Here are some of the best spots to eat in downtown Franklin!

  • 55 South โ€” Southern cuisine done SO SO well. (I’m still thinking about my cheese grits here.)
  • Gray’s on Main โ€” Upscale Southern food in an old pharmacy building.
  • Puckett’s โ€” Yes, more Southern food, plus lots of live music!
  • Burger Dandy โ€” A vintage fast-food-like diner with burgers and fries.
