Booked for the Weekend is a thoughtfully curated weekend retreat built about books, place, and connection.

A white mug with a "Piper Leaf Tea Co." tea bag rests on two stacked books beside a leafy green houseplant. The cozy still life includes the book "Kitchens of Great Midwest" in a softly lit room.
A woman in a rust colored sweater sits in an armchair reading a yellow hardcover book. Shelves filled with books arranged in shades of blue create a colorful backdrop for the cozy reading scene.

A Weekend Worth Booking

Life moves fast. Reading gets pushed aside. And connection is harder than ever.

Booked for the Weekend changes that.

You’re invited to step away from your busy life, spend time with fellow readers, and enjoy a weekend that’s been intentionally designed for maximum literary enjoyment.

We Believe…

  • Reading isn’t something you have to earn.
  • The best conversations often begin with, “What are you reading?”
  • Weekends should leave you feeling restored, not exhausted.
  • Thoughtful details matter.
  • Strangers can become lifelong friends.
  • Every reader deserves a place to belong.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Unless a retreat is specifically advertised as having a shared read, you’ll bring whatever books you’re excited to dive into.

Absolutely! The retreats are intentionally designed to help everyone feel welcome.

There will be a balanced mix of free time throughout the weekend plus optional curated activities. The goal is to create space, not fill every minute.

Each retreat page will outline exactly what’s included, but accommodations, shared meals, a welcome bag, and thoughtfully planned activities will typically be part of the weekend.

Meet Your Host

Hi, I’m Erin.

I’m the creator of Flying Off the Bookshelf, where I’ve spent years helping people discover places through thoughtful travel guides and inspiring stories.

I created Booked for the Weekend because I realized that books connect us in so many ways, but finding meaningful, in-person community isn’t always easy.

I want you to have the kind of weekend where you can relax and read, where you can arrive knowing no one and leave with friends, and where you get home feeling refreshed and inspired.

I’m so excited to welcome you.
