Dog Friendly Activities in Huntsville, Alabama
Looking for activities to do with your dog in Huntsville? Here are some ideas!
Remember: always have your dog leashed when you are in public places!
Hike Monte Sano Mountain
Monte Sano Mountain State Park has some of the best hiking trails in the Huntsville area, so it’s a perfect place to get outside with your dog. They also have a great playground for kids, picnic areas, a disc golf course, and group spaces that are available to rent.
Visit Lowe Mill Arts
Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment is the largest privately owned arts facility in the US. They have artists studios, events, classes, and more. It’s such a fun space to stroll through, and dogs are welcome (although not inside restaurants).
Shop at Bridge Street
Bridge Street Town Centre is one of the most popular shopping areas in Huntsville, with stores like Belk, Barnes & Noble, Orvis, and Mountain High Outfitters and restaurants like Conners Steak & Seafood, The Cheesecake Factory, and Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream.
And because Bridge Street is an outdoor mall, it is largely dog friendly! Dogs are not allowed in restaurants though (with the exception of service animals) and are not allowed inside all shops. Look for a sticker in the window of shops to see if they welcome dogs. And know that while dogs aren’t allowed inside restaurants, there are still plenty of restaurants with patio seating where you can enjoy a meal with your dog by your side.
Hang Out at Campus 805
Campus 805 was once a Huntsville middle school and it’s now been converted to a brewery and entertainment venue. Two of city’s most popular breweries are here: Yellowhammer and Straight to Ale. Both have dog friendly patios and there is a huge green space outside that the whole family can enjoy.
Go to a Dog Park
No matter where you are staying in Huntsville, there are dog parks all over the city! The city of Huntsville has several Dog Spot parks you can enjoy including the Downtown Dog Spot in downtown Huntsville and Creekwood Park Dog Spot near Research Park.
There is also a dog park in the Village of Providence, and you’ll find several dog park options in the nearby city of Madison (which is right next door to Research Park).
